So I’m finally 30, huh?

So the engagement of Mark and Nicole from Sunday is  now on You Tube.  What a great time that was! If you have about 3 minutes, check this out! 

I have nothing really exciting to say today, and I’m not really in the mood to write.  The only thing I’ll say is that last night was supposed to be my return to playing basketball in an official capacity.  I have decided to play in a 30 and over league for the town of Paxton.  I can feel myself getting older and decided I wanted to play in an official league again.  However, last night’s game was cancelled because of the snow storm that cancelled virtually every school in Massachusetts yesterday morning.  We got about 10 inches, but there were several places that went over the foot mark.  Uuugh.

So I guess the world will have to wait for my reignited emergence into the basketball world again.  I haven’t played in a league since my 2nd year of college, which we’ll say was in the middle 90’s.  Games are on Monday nights, which means for a few months I’ll be missing the Monday night volleyball escapades, but I think it will be worth it.

Sunday morning recap…

So both services at Fellowship Church in Holden, Massachusetts yesterday were pretty amazing, for some very different reasons.  In today’s Sunday morning recap, which regularly occurs on Monday, I’ll highlight the very cool things that happened at Fellowship this Sunday morning.

By the way, if you’re interested in what I was going to say controversially this morning, I will inform you very early in this blog that I have nothing controversial to say.  The idea that I did have something you’d want to read was a slightly sarcastic way to  express the need for tension in all of us.  So keep on movin’, there’s nothing to see here. Unless you’re interested in my life or in the life of FC.

*The band started off both services with the songwith the song “Crossroads” by Eric Clapton/Cream.  It was so sweet, and a great way to start off the service.  Al, our worship leader, who is pondering a blog, but hesitant to choose a name, is a way better singer than Clapton, and the band just ripped it.

*In the first service, the energy was great, and they were good sports, considering the fact that they didn’t get the “special surprise” I had talked so much about this last week.  I also shared with them the surprise early with the doors shut, making them promise that they wouldn’t talk about it until about 12:15 pm.

*In both services, there were visitors, and the message was one that I thought was relevant for both the church and those who were guests.  Either way, the response was good.  In fact, a few hours after the services, I received one of the greatest calls I had ever received about any of my messages.  So with that I give a shout out to God!!!  He did an amazing thing yesterday that will outlast that one Sunday.

*My team after the service, told me that several people mentioned to them that they wish they would have invited someone specific that they know to hear the message this week.  Hindsight is indeed 20/20.

*The 2nd service had some energy too!  Crossroads, which you can also find as a song on the first Guitar Hero, went just as good.  And Al danced around the stage some more.

*Our special surprise for this week was the engagement of Mark Duclose and Nicole Lagace on stage after the music and before the message. I had told them (Mark knew the truth as he was in on it) that they would be helping me with a illustration on trust and that she would need to be walked in by someone and then eventually fall backwards into Mark’s arms.  So when it started, Al and Cj (keyboardist) began playing this sappy love song called “Lost in a moment” by the country group Big n Rich and Leslie Kenney walked Nicole in blindfolded.  The stage was set.  Then instead of having her fall into Mark’s arms, Leslie took Nicole’s blindfold off, only to have Mark kneeling in front of her.  She immediately knew what was going on, and he asked inside of a microphone, “Will you marry me?”

*She said “yes”.

*It was like a scene from a movie.  The crowd cheered for what seemed like minutes, and the whole thing was great.  Congrats to Mark and Nicole!  We’ll have the video on You Tube tomorrow.

*Point we need to work on and we know it – The sound system. We know it’s been difficult to hear the vocals.  We need some new equipment. 

*It’s very cool to be able to do this for a living and to just put some things together and let God do His thing.  I am so blessed to have the family I do and to have the church family I do.
